We all know that you can’t have Thanksgiving dinner without gravy. You’re in good company if, like me, your mashed potatoes need to be drowning in a big pool of it. Gravy also helps make overcooked, dry turkey a little more palatable. Holiday World has taken the brown sauce to another level by adding a gravy-themed roller coaster to the park. Good Gravy! Is opening at Holiday World in May 2024.
Holiday World is an amusement park in Santa Claus, Indiana, that is broken up into four holiday-themed areas: Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July and Thanksgiving. Plus, there is a Splashin’ Safari water park. So, it’s not really a surprise that the coaster with a name like Good Gravy! will be the newest addition to the Thanksgiving section of the amusement park.
Good Gravy! will be a mild family coaster. The story behind the ride is that it’s Thanksgiving and the gravy has run out! Riders are tasked with helping to make more gravy. The 1,500 foot ride reaches a a height of 77 feet tall, traveling forward and then backwards.
Good Gravy! is opening in May 2024!
The ride has one train designed to look like a giant gravy boat. It’s made up of ten coaches that seat two, for a maximum of 20 riders at a time . This coaster is family-friendly, with its fastest speed of 37 mph and a total ride length of 1 minute and five seconds.
The coaster travels through a giant cranberry sauce can tunnel. Riders may also spot giant sized objects like a chicken timer, whisk, rolling pin, Koch Dairy bottle, and a box of Ruth’s Stuffing as they speed along the tracks.
This sounds like a fun, food-themed ride that even younger kids can enjoy (as long as they are 38”). If you have a need for more intense speed, don’t despair. Holiday World has other coasters like Thunderbird, which goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and Voyager, a wooden coaster that has a hill height of 164 feet and reaches speeds of 67.4 mph.
I love a good theme and this holiday-themed park in a town called Santa Claus makes me want to visit ASAP! Get ready to ride Good Gravy! next May.
