If you’ve tried to plan a vacation recently, you’ll know that airfares are getting expensive and summer flights have been selling out at near-record rates. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to still find a cheap flight for summer travel. In fact, some of the most popular destinations with tourists still have affordable airfares available. We’ve gathered data from booking sites Skyscanner, Scott’s Cheap Flights, and Priceline to find routes that still have rock-bottom round-trip tickets available. Here are six destinations where you can fly this summer without breaking the bank.
Economy tickets to The City of Light have been as low as $292 round-trip for spring and summer flights, according to SCF’s data. Recent Paris deals from the subscription site include round-trip tickets from Newark for $381 and a nonstop from San Francisco for $393 round-trip. Airfares will likely remain inexpensive throughout the summer, with low-cost carriers like French Bee launching new flights from the West Coast, as well as Delta and Air France starting an hourly shuttle service between New York JFK and two Paris airports: Charles de Gaulle and Orly.
If you’re looking for a last-minute beach getaway, consider the Bahamas. Skyscanner’s searches turned up affordable tickets departing as soon as Memorial Day Weekend, like round-trips from New York to Nassau starting at $461. For the cheapest itineraries, you’ll likely have to make a connection, but the stop could be worth it to keep prices low.
An airline fare war on routes to Portugal’s capital is helping to keep prices low, according to SCF. Low-cost carrier TAP Air Portugal continues to offer cheap tickets to Lisbon from its U.S. gateways, which include Boston, Miami, Chicago, and New York. Travelers based outside of those cities also have access to affordable Lisbon-bound flights, as other carriers compete with TAP’s low costs. SCF has been finding deals from Baltimore as low as $392 roundtrip, and out of San Francisco from $376. Plus, Priceline says hotel stays are currently an average of just $160 per night.
